Dr. Lindman is a native of Rockford. Dr. Lindman received his professional degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Illinois College of Dentistry. His graduate training in periodontics was completed at Northwestern University College of Dentistry Where he received a Certificate Degree in Periodontics and a Master of Science degree.

Dr. Burch grew up in Villa Park, IL. Dr. Burch attended Eastern Illinois University, where he majored in Biochemistry. He received his Certificate Degree in Periodontics and Master of Science from Saint Louis University.

Dr. Hull grew up in Monmouth, IL. Dr. Hull earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Southern Illinois University and his Certificate in Periodontics from Saint Louis University, Department of Periodontics. While at Saint Louis University, Dr. Hull completed an anesthesia program and uses sedation and pain control techniques in his practice.

What to Do in Case of Emergency

If you find yourself in the following situations, the most important thing to do is remain calm and determine whether immediate emergency care is required. Although many of us do not think we will ever find ourselves in an emergency situation, it is important to be prepared for how to act in case you find yourself in any of the following situations.

Knocked-out tooth

Following a tooth being knocked out, the first thing you should do is locate and pick up the tooth, avoiding touching the root as much as possible. Next, rinse the tooth off with water, contact lens solution, or milk. If none of these are available, do not wipe the tooth off with a shirt or handkerchief, as doing so can cause additional damage. Next, place the tooth in a container of milk, water, or your own saliva if possible. If a container is not available, try placing the tooth back in the mouth, unless the pain of doing so is too intense. Once you have done so, contact our office as soon as possible. If you are seen quickly enough, there is a good chance your tooth can be saved.

Partially dislodged tooth

A tooth that has become partially dislodged can generally be saved and does not typically require emergency care, provided it is not broken and the blood vessels and nerve are still attached. Although an extruded tooth does not typically require emergency care, it is important to schedule an appointment as soon as possible.

Cracked/Chipped/Broken Tooth

Whether or not emergency care is necessary following a tooth becoming cracked, chipped, or broken will depend upon the severity of the crack, chip, or break, and the level of pain you are experiencing. Patients can typically avoid emergency care so long as they avoid hot or cold food and beverages, chewing where the tooth has become damaged, and taking over-the-counter pain relief medication. If the pain continues to increase or becomes unbearable, seek emergency care.

Lost filling or crown

Fillings and crowns may fall out for a variety of reasons, but do not typically require immediate emergency intervention. If your filling or crown has fallen out, it is important to schedule an appointment to have them corrected as soon as possible and identify and correct the underlying issue. If there is pain associated with the lost filling or crown that continues to increase or becomes unbearable, seek emergency care.

Injured tooth

A tooth that has become injured due to physical trauma may or may not require emergency care. If possible, try to manage the pain with over-the-counter pain relievers, such as Advil, and avoid chewing on the tooth that has been injured until you can be seen. If the pain continues to increase or becomes unbearable, seek emergency care.

Extreme pain

If possible, it is best to avoid emergency dental care, but if you are experiencing pain that seems to be getting worse and is significantly impacting your quality of life, it is probably best to seek emergency dental care.

Although there are typically higher costs associated with having emergency dental care performed (especially if performed at a hospital), it is important to remember that your health is the most important thing, and avoiding treatment will likely result in your situation worsening, resulting in increased costs in the long run.

If you are covered under a dental insurance plan, we do ask that you bring your insurance cards and any necessary forms with you to your appointment. We are happy to provide a pre-estimate of dental benefits prior to treatment, and will submit any receipts, forms, or other information required by your insurance company. Once insurance payment has been received, the remaining balance will be mailed to you.

Please note: our office does offer a 5% reduction in fee for full payment at the time services are provided (contingent on treatment type). We also offer extended payment plans through GreenSky Patient Solutions or CareCredit. For your convenience, we accept cash, personal check, Visa, Discover, MasterCard, or American Express.
